- $71 million for new health research centre
A new A$71 million health research centre will be established at the Monash Medical Centre in Clayton. Funding for the Monash Health Research Precinct (MHRP), a partnership between Monash, the Monash Institute of Medical Research, Southern Health and the Prince Henry's Institute, was announced in last week's 2009-2010 Federal budget.

A world-first treatment for high blood pressure has been successfully trialled in Melbourne.

Associate Professor Ian Pettigrew from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has received a President's Medal, the highest individual award bestowed by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
- Monash researcher attracts $5.39 million for heart and kidney research
Monash medical researcher Professor Henry Krum, from the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, has received a $5.39 million Program Grant from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) to study the prevention and treatment of chronic heart and kidney disease.
