Monash Centre for Inflammatory Diseases
Associate Professor Peter Tipping
A/Prof Peter Tipping is an NH&MRC Principal Research Fellow, who has been continuously funded by the NHMRC for the past 20 years and has supervised 18 honours students and 13 PhD students over this period. He is clinician/scientist with expertise in animal models of human inflammatory diseases and has received international recognition for work using mouse models to dissect the pathogenic mechanisms in crescentic glomerulonephritis.
He received the Silver Jubilee Research Prize from the Faculty of Medicine in 2000 and the TJ Neale Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Nephrological Science awarded by the Australian and New-Zealand Society of Nephrology in 1995. He is member of the editorial boards of the American Journal of Pathology, Clinical and Experimental Nephrology, Nephron – Experimental Nephrology, and Faculty of 1000 – Nephrology Faculty and is a section editor for Nephrology.
The current focus of his research group is the interactions between coagulation and inflammation inflammatory diseases including glomerulonephritis, atherosclerosis arthritis and endotoxaemia, with a major interest is on the role of tissue factor and protease activated receptors.
