Susannah King commenced at Monash University as a lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics in February 2007, teaching in the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics course. She brings to the department 14 years’ experience as a clinical dietitian, working in three of Melbourne’s major teaching hospitals, including the Alfred, where she continues to hold an appointment. Her dietetic experience has covered all major clinical areas including nutrition support, nutrition education and the speciality areas of renal medicine, gastroenterology, critical care, cystic fibrosis and lung transplantation in inpatient, ambulatory and home-based settings. She also has substantial food service experience, particularly with the implementation of computerised menu management systems. Susannah’s major research interests include disease-related malnutrition, body composition, nutrition support, cystic fibrosis and gastroenterology. Her PhD studies focussed on the determinants of malnutrition in the adult cystic fibrosis population, with her thesis being submitted in February 2007. Her research has been presented at national and international scientific meetings in both the clinical nutrition and cystic fibrosis fields. She was a major contributor to the Australasian Clinical Practice Guidelines for Nutrition in Cystic Fibrosis, completed in 2006. Susannah has also served on the committee of the Coeliac Society of Victoria and co-edited the Coeliac Society of Australia’s education and information handbook. She was a member of the Dietitians Association of Australia (Victorian branch) Professional Education Committee from 2002 – 2005.
