Honours Project
Assessment of appetite regulation and energy expenditure in women with and without Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Supervisor: Professor Helena Teede and Dr Lisa Moran
Outline
Obesity worsens the reproductive and metabolic features of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and there is some evidence that women with PCOS may have difficulties in weight management related to appetite regulation or energy expenditure. This has not been comprehensively examined across different severities of PCOS. The aim of this project is to examine basal metabolic rate, post-prandial thermogenesis and fasting and post-prandial appetite and appetite regulation in women with different diagnostic categories of PCOS and women without PCOS.
