Neuroepidemiology

The primary focus of this group is to investigate the effects and mechanisms of brain ageing, with particular reference to the interface between cerebrovascular disease and neurodegeneration. This is conducted in population-based settings, enriched clinical samples and collaboratively in translational work involving experimental animal models. There is also a strong emphasis on epidemiological research into stroke in developing countries, particularly in Vietnam and India. Research Staff in this group are based at MMC as well as the Menzies Research Institute, Hobart.
