Southern Clinical School — Neurosciences Research Group

Teaching the doctors and researchers of tomorrow...

Neurosciences research at Monash Medical Centre (MMC) is conducted by clinical researchers in cerebrovascular diseases (Stroke, TIA, Migraine) and brain ageing (STroke and Ageing Research Group (STAR). They have specific expertise in brain imaging, neuroepidemiology and clinical trials. Their research involves large population-based samples, enriched clinical samples and collaborative translational work involving experimental animal models with funding from competitive (NHMRC, NHF, NIH) and non-competitive grant sources. There are strong academic ties with other groups in the Faculty of Medicine at Monash University and strong clinical links with Southern Health, providing a rich environment for clinical and translational research.
