Dr Anthony Dear MBBS (Hons) Ph.D

Dr Dear completed his Medical Degree, with Honors, at Monash University. He continued his clinical training at the Alfred and Box Hill Hospital campuses and currently holds an appointment at Box Hill Hospital as a clinical consultant in Vascular Medicine. In 1997 he obtained his PhD from Monash University examining the molecular biological control of components of the plasminogen activating system. Dr Dear continued his postdoctoral studies at Monash University focusing on the plasminogen activating and matrix metalloproteinase enzyme systems, their involvement in extracellular matrix degradation, and therapeutic regulation in the setting of cancer and vascular disease. He currently holds a Senior Research Officer appointment in The Australian Centre for Blood Diseases (ACBD), Department of Medicine, Monash University AMREP facility where he heads the Eastern Clinical Research Unit (ECRU) Biotechnology Laboratory. Dr Dear is involved in several scientific collaborations with national and international research groups, is Deputy Director of the Eastern Clinical Research Unit (ECRU) situated at the Alfred, Box Hill and Maroondah hospitals and co-investigator in international trials in multiple disciplines. Dr Dear consults to Gribbles Molecular Sciences, as a Medical Associate to the Department of Molecular Biology and is a member of the Australian Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ASTH), the Australian Vascular Biology Society (AVBS) and the Australian Breast Cancer Research Interest and Discussion Group (ABRIDG).
