It is worrying when you reach midlife and feel your memory beginning to fail on occasion. Just why does this happen? Is there something wrong? Can this process be halted or reversed?
Are hormonal changes responsible for some of these occurrences? Can taking hormones make a difference?

We are looking at the effect of oestrogen in preserving memory. Our study will be run over 6 months and involves taking an oral hormone replacement therapy or placebo for this period. Cognition (memory) testing will be performed during the study and a functional MRI scan will be performed at the beginning and the end.

Are you a healthy, right handed female between the ages of 45-55?

If you are postmenopausal, not using any hormone therapy and can take an oral oestrogen we would like to hear from you.
