Medical Rural Bonded (MRB) Scholarships

In 2004, 100 scholarships (Australia-wide) of $20,000 p.a. were offered to new medical students for the length of the course, in return for a legally-binding commitment to practice in rural areas for a fixed period at the completion of training. In 2006, the value of the MRB scholarship was $22,298 p.a.

It is expected that Monash University will be allocated approximately 9 scholarship places in 2008. An application form explaining the details of application procedures for these scholarship places will be sent to all timely VTAC applicants during October/November.

MRB scholarships will only be offered to Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Monash University Undergraduate Scholarships

Monash University celebrates academic excellence and supports students experiencing disadvantage.

In 2007 a range of undergraduate scholarships and bursaries will be available.

Scholarships for excellence will be awarded on the basis of achievement in the final year of secondary schooling, and will be offered to the highest achieving students applying for admission to Monash.

Students offered a scholarship excellence must gain admission to the medicine course by meeting the criteria outlined above (relating to performance in UMAT and interview as well as ENTER). The offer of a scholarship for excellence (which is based upon ENTER alone) does not imply acceptance into the medicine course.

Monash will also offer additional scholarships to students from equity groups on the basis of academic achievement.

Information about these programs will be available from July.
