Welcome to the School of Nursing and Midwifery Research
Research excellence in nursing and midwifery at Monash University, School of Nursing and Midwifery is centred on key research foci of established expertise and the development of new and emerging practice areas.
Our research foci are:
Palliative care. The palliative care team has a broad research agenda incorporating a range of clinical environments, populations and educational activities, with strong links nationally and internationally.
Mental health. The mental health research team has strong outputs that encompass educational activities and research with many clinical disciplines.
Scholarship of nursing and midwifery education. This focus relates to developing workforce and clinical practice, including areas such as education principles and practice, workplace learning and simulation.
Nursing and midwifery advancement. This focus concerns all clinical discipline research and includes areas such as emergency and critical care. It is also concerned with clinical decision-making, role re-design, extension and advanced practice roles and nursing history.
Our research teams are actively supported by local and internationally renowned researchers, academics, administration staff and student researchers from nursing and associated disciplines. Many research projects are conducted in collaboration with industry partners from health services and a range of other organisations and individuals.
