Dr David Mitchell (MBBS 2000), who served in East Timor, Bali, Cyprus and Lebanon as a GP with the Royal Australian Air Force, has received one of the 2008 Monash Distinguished Alumni Awards.

A Monash University researcher has called for early detection of poor language skills in children because of the link to disadvantage and offending.
- Life skills
They deal with the most severe medical emergencies, victims of road, rail and air disasters, house fires and crime. They are elite Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedics, unique to Victoria. They are trained by Monash University.
