Steven completed his studies for the Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1996 at the Victorian College of Pharmacy (Monash University) in Parkville. He then went on to further study at the college to complete a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Honours) in 1998, majoring in Pharmacology, whilst also completing registration requirements to become a pharmacist in the same year. Steven spent a few years working as a pharmacist in both community and hospital settings, and has continued to do so whilst working on his PhD
related to the pharmacoepidemiology (safety and efficacy of medications) with respect to heart failure and hypertension. Steven joined this department at the end of 2001 and has been the recipient of an NH&MRC Public Health Scholarship to continue work on his studies. Steven was also named
an Honorary Research Fellow at the Alfred Hospital in 2002 investigating Adverse Drug Reactions encountered at the hospital since 1996, and is an active member of the hospital's Adverse Drug Reaction Committee. In addition to his studies, Steven is also actively involved in lecturing and teaching various medical, statistical and epidemiological subjects to medical undergraduates, allied health professional undergraduates and public health students.
