Workshop to finalise Study Protocol and Intervention - May, 2011

From the 28th to the 30th of May a workshop was held at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum, India, to discuss and progress plans for the Kerala Diabetes Prevention Program. The workshop was attended by the Chair and Research Director of IPHU,  Prof Brian Oldenburg and IPHU visiting Research Fellow, Dr Emily Williams, as well as our Indian collaborators Prof KR Thankappan and Dr Sivasankaran, both from the Sree Chitra Institute. The workshop was successful in advancing plans for the intervention and its measurement tools, whilst ensuring cultural and contextual sensitivity. The protocol and intervention are now in the final stages of development, with piloting scheduled for November this year and  recruitment anticipated to commence early 2012.
