Contemporary Issues in Health Informatics

Post Graduate Short Courses delivered by Off Campus Distributed Learning

Based on our highly successful Health Informatics program, the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is offering a series of short courses. Each course aims to educate health professionals who envision the potential benefits of computers and want to work at the interface of technology and society in the area of healthcare and its delivery. Each course is offered over a five week period.

Course 1: Emerging Trends in Clinical Care
Evidence Based Medicine, Patient Centered Information Systems, Policy and Confidentiality, New and Emerging Technologies and Aged Care.

Course 2: Evaluation Methodologies
Introduction to Evaluation, Qualitative Research, Qualitative Evaluation and Formative Evaluation.

Course 3: Internet Technologies
History and Development, Current Status, Major Themes, Relevance to Healthcare Systems, Likely Futures, Societal Framework/Impact, Continuing Education for Health Professionals.

Credit Points:
For each course completed, health professionals will be awarded a certificate stating their satisfactory performance. If all three short courses are completed, you will be eligible for Recognised Prior Learning in the Contemporary Issues in Health Informatics unit of the Master of Health Sciences, health informatics stream. Cost:
Each short course attracts a fee of AUD$700.00 as at 1 February 2009.
