Conditions of Use

  • Audiovisual equipment should not leave the MMS building
  • Always book the projector in advance and leave your details (i.e. name, lab name, extension phone number and location of use) in the booking diary with Anna
  • If you donít need the equipment, cancel your booking immediately to allow others to use
  • Make sure that you are aware of block bookings for essential Departmental seminars/meetings
  • If Anna is not available on certain days, make sure you organise other arrangements for pick-up and drop-off
  • Never leave the equipment unattended and unsecured Always take due care with the equipment
  • Post-graduate students and staff should get their lab headís approval before loan of the equipment (responsibility of the equipment rests with the lab heads)
  • Report all unresolved problems to Anna immediately on x30713

Specific Instructions

  • Get the computer out of the carrier first
  • Next get out the projector, cables and accessories
  • Connect the projector to mains and computer (computer 1 port of projector and monitor |O| port of computer) and turn the projector ON

    NOTE: if you are using a PC laptop, connect the cable socket with the extra inline piece before it, to the projector.

  • Connect the blue internet cable to the computer (if needed, see below)
  • Connect the remote mouse receiver to one of the USB ports of the computer and place this close to the projectorís infrared remote sensor (i.e. on top of projector)
  • Turn the computer ON
  • Set your zoom/focus either via the remote or the projector control panel
  • Have fun with your presentation!

  • From the apple menu choose chooser and select Path & Imm Projector G3
  • Enter name and password and download your files etc
  • Delete your files at the conclusion of your presentation; MAKE SURE that you have files backed-up elsewhere before you delete your files!

Warnings:

  • Avoid accidental turning OFF of the projector. If this occurs immediately restore power to the projector. If power cannot be restored, allow to cool before placing into the carrier and notify Anna of the incident
  • Always allow the projector fan to completely stop before unplugging and packing away (i.e. once the power light has gone amber colour)
  • Make sure the lens cap is on the projector before packing away
  • Donít interfere with menu settings. If menu is pressed accidentally, just press it again to cancel
  • To reset the projector, press menu and select RESET by pressing ZOOM/FOCUS (SELECT) button on the projector control panel and enter your selection by pressing "+" of TELE/WIDE button followed by the MENU button
  • Always use the power adapter with the Departmentís G3 Powerbook to maintain charged batteries. If you use the battery, you need to fully charge them before returning the equipment.
  • Make sure the projector lens faces upward (towards handle) in the carrier
  • Check that nothing is left behind

Troubleshooting:

The power does not come on. The power cord is disconnected. Firmly plug in the power cord.
The lamp cover is not attached correctly. Attach the cover correctly.
The power turns off while using the projector. The ambient temperature of the projection room is too high. Lower the ambient temperature of the projection room, and turn the power on.
No image appears. The lens cover is on. Take off the lens cover.
The wrong input is selected. Select the input source correctly with the INPUT button.
The PICT. MUTE mode is on. Press the PICT. MUTE button to restore the picture.
The brightness adjustment is at its darkest Adjust the brightness.
The source is not correct to the projector. Connect the source correctly to the projector.
No sound is heard. The wrong input is selected. Select the ifiput source correctly with the INPUT button.
The AUDIO MUTE mode is on. Press the AUDIO MUTE button to restore the sound.
The sound volume is at the minimum. Adjust the sound volume with the VOLUME button.
The source is not correctly connected to the projector. Connect the source correctly to the projector.
The images are blurred. Focusing is uneven. The lens is dirty. Clean the lens. Use a lens cleaner to clean the lens.
Dew has condensed on the lens mirror. Leave the lens mirror until it is adapted to the room temperature.
The picture is out of focus. Focus the picture.
The projecting distance is not appropriate. Adjust the distance properly.
The projecting light is not hitting the screen squarely. Adjust the projecting direction so that the light hits the screen squarely.
The brightness contrast, sharpness or synchronization adjustments are not correct Adjust the picture.
The pictures are dim. The brightness or contrast adjustments are not correct. Adjust the picture.
The lamp life is ending. Replace the lamp.
The colors are faint. The colors are strange. The color, tint, R-LEVEL, G-LEVEL or B-LEVEL adjustments are not correct Adjust the picture.
The lamp life is ending. Replace the lamp.
The remote control does not work. The rernote control is not facing the remote sensor. Face the remote control transmitter toward the remote sensor on the projector.
The remote control is too far. Operate within about 5 meters.
There is an obstruction between the remote control and the remote sensor. Remove the obstacle.
The batteries are exhausted. Replace the batteries.
