Connecting via modem on a Mac
These instructions are for MacOS versions
8 and above.
For earlier version instructions please
see your local IT member
Modem setup
- Open Control Panel - Modem
- Check to see if it is set similar to below

- Choose modem appropriate to the one you have, most
Powerbooks and recent towers (G3-G4) use the built in
modem as chosen above. If you use your own and it is
not on the list choose a Hayes compatible one with the
same maximum speed.
- Sound is optional, if you like to hear it login and
talk or if you like the geeky electronic squeeks then
go ahead.
- Choose Tone; pulse will work but not reliably.
TCP/IP Settings
- Open Control Panel - TCP/IP
- Enter the info below:

Remote Access Settings
- Type in the following phone number and your AUTHCATE
username and password and check save password - see
below:
Scripting is not necessary unless you wish to connect
to the Medical school modems of which 4 are for Pathology
and Immunology and operate between 28.8 and 33.6 kbps.
See your local IT member if you think you need to use
these modems.
