Bachelor of Health Science/Bachelor of Social WorkWhat is Health Science?Health Science includes areas such as health promotion and health education, community health, health informatics, health policy and health administration. What is Social Work?Social Workers help people to resolve problems in their relationships with others and to cope with and obtain just entitlements from society (for example from sources such as school, employment, and social security benefits). Social Workers assist individuals, families, groups and communities and their education provides the theories and skills relevant to professional practice. Social work is committed to social justice and to the development of the full potential of each individual, group and community in society. The BHSc/BSW is a dualtrack degree intended to prepare graduates for careers in health and community development, health promotion, social work and program management. Social workers are committed to developing the full potential of each individual, group and community assisting people to develop skills and resources to cope with personal problems and social change. This combined degree assists graduates to focus on the development of community resources and support networks, as well as policy and programs to enhance health and social support. The Bachelor of Health Science/Bachelor of Social Work (BHSc/BSW) is a four-year undergraduate course offered at the Monash Caulfield campus through the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. The course equips students for a career in social work with specialty knowledge of health concepts and social care systems.
