Profile
Sarah Hawkey is a Research Fellow in the Department of Health Social Science at Monash University, where she is currently working on a three year evaluation of the VicHealth Melbourne Metropolitan Active Participation Grants (APG Metro) funded for 2009-2012.
Sarah is working in-depth with four of the funded projects to identify the impact that sport, active recreation and participation has on the physical, mental and social wellbeing of disadvantaged and diverse population groups. A key component to the evaluation is to also explore the how active participation projects will influence equity and social diversity.
Sarah is also an associate lecturer currently teaching a unit on healthcare management. Sarah has a background and strong links in the Victorian health promotion sector including community health and primary care partnerships, where she has previously worked in the areas of health promotion population planning, capacity building, partnership development and project management.
