Prof Harrigan, who is currently a Visiting Fellow with the Department of Health Social Science, presented an intriguing seminar at Monash Caulfield on 28 April 2010, outlining his recent ground breaking research into electronic gambling machine (or poker machine) design. His research has utilised game design documents, known as PAR sheets (probability accounting reports) which describe the parameters of such games, and permit precise calculation of the patterns of reinforcement embedded in pokie games. These documents have never before been utilised in independent academic research. The slides from Kevin's seminar, and a short video presentation, are available here.
