Year 4In year 4, all students spend time with general practitioners, observing, taking histories, examining, doing procedures and managing patients for some of their problems. Time is also spent with academics in lectures and tutorials learning some of the skills and information required to work as a general practitioner. The Department of General Practice (DGP) coordinates and administers this teaching in Year 4 of the MBBS. The basic clinical skills and knowledge gained in earlier years is developed further with an emphasis on developing management skills to ensure safe and effective practice of medicine. The teaching is primarily performed by clinicians who work in general practice. DGP Members are responsible for the development, teaching, organization, assessment and evaluation of the skills and knowledge of the fourth year students. Dr Andrew Beveridge is Coordinator of Year 4 MBBS at Notting Hill. Ms Philippa Slevison is the Year 4 Administrator. Philippa assists with the preparation of learning materials and evaluation, organises students, tutors and tutorials, keeps records, liaises with DGP staff, faculty staff and tutors, and is responsible for student placements. |
