Our research shows that many women are unaware of the need to attend their GP for preconception care, nor are they aware of the breadth of issues what such a consultation might involve.

Our patient information sheet (pdf) provides an overview of the issues women considering or preparing for pregnancy should be aware of.

The March of Dimes (an American organisation dedicated to improving health outcomes for mothers and babies) produce a number of fact sheets which cover preconception, prenatal and genetics topics.

They are designed for use by patients and health care professionals. Each fact sheet is reviewed by leading experts on the topic so you can be assured the information included is accurate and up-to-date. The fact sheets are available for download from the March of Dimes website.

Better Health Channel

The Better Health Channel website, founded by the Victorian Department of Human Services, Australia is a consumer health information website for the Victorian community. The site's aim is to provide free health and medical information in an easy to understand format and language. All fact sheets pass through a rigorous approval process that includes health and medical experts from the content partner organisation, editorial staff and final approval by the Victorian Department of Human Services.
