Annual Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education Gender and Cultural Competence Workshops
The Centre for Medical and Health Sciences Educations (CMHSE) at Monash runs a Graduate Certificate of Health Professional Education (GCHPE). The Certificate course is designed to up-skill clinical teachers in medical education best-practice and is therefore a requirement of new employees in the Faculty.
Since 2003 a half day workshop on gender and cultural diversity mainstreaming has been conducted annually for the Graduate Certificate of Health Professional Education. The session has 2 main aims. Firstly it seeks to assist participants to develop skills in identifying needs and issues related to gender and cultural diversity for the teacher and the student in the clinical teaching context. Secondly is seeks to assist participants to develop strategies to help students to engage appropriately in the clinical teaching environment which are mindful of gender and cultural differences.
