Diana Asmar Multiple Sclerosis Research Fund

Cr Diana Asmar, Mayor of the City of Darebin is eager to see advancements made into treatments and a cure for patients with Multiple Sclerosis.

On Friday, 20 November 2009 Cr Asmar will host a themed fundraising ball 'Unmask a Cure for MS, to raise funds to assist Monash University's Professor Claude Bernard with his research into a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.  For event details and information on how you can become involved in this event follow the link to www.darebin.vic.gov.au/mayorsevent.  Enquiries can be directed to (03) 8470 8602 or email mayorsevent@darebin.vic.gov.au.

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system that affects more young Australians than any other neurological condition. Its sufferers may experience life-long symptoms such as fatigue, loss of co-ordination, slurred speech, paralysis and blindness. Though the severity and range of symptoms is different in different people, its effects can be devastating due to the unpredictable and on-going nature of the disease. There is currently no cure.

Diana Asmar knows this only too well as she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2000. She has thrown her support, and that of the people of Darebin, behind the quest to find a cure for this debilitating disease. She urges everyone with a similar hope to do the same by donating to the Diana Asmar MS Research Fund of the Monash University Medical Foundation.
