Ewan MacFarlane is an occupational epidemiologist with expertise in occupational exposure assessment in a wide variety of research activities covering a diversity of Australian industries. Ewan has a BSc (Biological Sciences) from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Public Health (Occupational and Environmental Health) from Monash University and his PhD thesis dealt with long-term health outcomes in Australian pesticide-exposed workers (Monash).
Dr MacFarlane has methodological expertise in longitudinal research, cohort studies, nested case-control studies, disease surveillance programs, large datasets and the use of pre-existing data to answer new research questions. He also has considerable experience in record linkage of large datasets and registries. Ewan's interests also include occupational injury, agricultural health, pesticides and other chemical exposures, psychosocial exposures, asbestos and mesothelioma.
