Aims

To provide course participants with an understanding of what constitutes good practice in research and what factors make research ethical or unethical.

Overview

The short course will increase understanding of the ethical issues that arise in clinical research.  Participants will learn about national and international guidelines on ethics in research and the current system of HREC review. 

The course is presented by speakers with substantial hands on experience of both clinical research and research ethics committees.  The presentations will focus on the following themes: what is ‘ethical research conduct’?; what is expected of researchers?; thinking beyond ethics approval; hints in applying HREC approval; and the additional needs of vulnerable populations.

Materials A booklet will be provided on the day
Catering Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided
