Medical doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, clinicians, epidemiologists, psychologists, pharmacists, biochemists and public health researchers who are interested in data analysis, report/journal article writing, report/journal article reviewing and supervising researchers in the above areas.
Aims
  • Perform statistical analyses, report their findings and interpret their results.
  • Critically appraise the statistical aspects of research publications in bioscience.
  • Be confident and enjoy statistical analysis!
Overview

Classification of data, summary statistics; distribution (shape) of data; comparing two or more groups – parametric and non-parametric methods (p-value and 95% confidence interval); determining the association between outcome and exposure (e.g., association b/w lung cancer and smoking); risk comparison (relative risk (RR) and odds ratio (OR)); risk identifications – linear and logistic regression (simple (univariate!) and multiple (multivariate!)) and power analysis/sample size calculation.
