Dr Catherine Joyce

Senior Research Fellow

Dr Catherine Joyce is a NHMRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow whose research focus is policy-relevant health services research, with a particular interest in the health workforce. One of her current research projects is the Practice Nurse Work Survey, a national survey examining the functions and duties of nurses working in general practice. She is a Chief Investigator for the MABEL study (Medicine in Australia: Balancing Employment and Life (MABEL): The Australian longitudinal survey of doctors), This study, funded by a five-year NHMRC Health Services Research grant, is examining the dynamics of the Australian medical workforce over time. With the Australian Institute of Health Policy Studies, she is collaborating on a study of new methods of citizen engagement in health policy development and implementation.

Catherine’s PhD research included a longitudinal survey of Monash University medical graduates, and a simulation modelling study of Australia ’s future medical workforce.

She is a Fellow of the Australian Health Workforce Institute, and teaches health policy and health systems at postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
