Giuliana completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne on ethical issues arising from advances in reproductive technologies. She is a science graduate who became interested in bioethics through her work in assisted reproductive technologies. Giuliana was employed for nearly ten years as clinical scientist and researcher in a Melbourne IVF clinic. She then completed a Master of Bioethics at Monash and went on to pursue research interests in ethical issues in health and medicine. Giuliana is the Research Governance Coordinator at DEPM and lectures in medical ethics in the Human Rights and Bioethics Unit at DEPM.  She is a member of several ethics committees and review panels and brings to this role an interest in the ethical review process and its development in facilitating good research.
