Baki Billah received a PhD degree from Monash University, Australia in 2001, an MAS (Masters in Applied Statistics) degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada in 1996, MSc (First Class First) and BSc (Hons) (First Class) degrees from the University of Dhaka. Since 1991 Baki has worked for Monash University (Australia), Carleton University (Canada), Memorial University (Canada), University of Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Government Canada.

He joined the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine of Monash University in 2004. His research interests are Risk Modeling (e.g., mortality risk), Modeling for comparison of Institutional Performance (e.g., hospital/surgeon performance in cardiac surgery), Statistical Inference, Prediction and Model Selection among others. Baki is also involved in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the field of biostatistics.

He is a chief biostatistician and consultant in a number of research projects in Australia and particularly in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine. A number of his research articles have been published by the world leading medical/statistical journals e.g., Journal of Hypertension, The Australian Medical Journal, American Journal of Infection Control, Journal of Royal Statistical Society, International Journal of Forecasting, Statistical Computation and Simulation and Australia New Zealand Journal of Statistics.

Baki has attended many international conferences in Australia, USA, Europe and Bangladesh. In 1997, he was selected the best researcher in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics of Monash University. Recently, Baki has developed AusSCORE Model that would help to appropriately guide Australian Cardiac Surgeons and patients in assessing preoperative Risk of cardiac mortality.
