PhD Candidate

Marlien Varnfield has a Bachelor of Science Honours degree from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and a Master of Science degree (focusing on periodontal diseases) from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Pretoria, South Africa. Marlien is currently on a CSIRO PhD scholarship program, associated with the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University. Her focus is on research investigating the clinical outcomes and feasibility of home-care models utilising Information and Communication Technologies in the management of two leading chronic diseases, Cardiovascular diseases and Diabetes.
