Catherine Joyce, BA(Hons), MPsych, PhD, NHMRC P'Hlth Fellow

Senior Lecturer

Dr Catherine Joyce is a health services researcher with a particular interest in health workforce research and other areas of policy-relevant research.  She currently holds an NHMRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.

Her current research includes the Practice Nurse Work Survey, a national study of the role and function of nurses in Austalian general practice, and the MABEL study (Medicine in Australia - Balancing Employment and Life) with Anthony Scott, John Humphreys and Guyonne Kalb.  With the Australian Institute of Health Policy Studies, she is collaborating on a study of new methods of citizen engagement in health policy.

Catherine has qualifications in clinical psychology and has previously worked for Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, at the rural health research unit at James Cook University, and at the Centre for Program Evaluation at the University of Melbourne.

Teaching Experience

Catherine has almost 20 years experience in tertiary education.  She is coordinator of the Clinical & Public Health Sciences Major in the Bachelor of Health Sciences, and currently teaches health policy and health systems at postgraduate and undergraduate levels.  She also has experience teaching qualitative and quantitative research methods, epidemiology, and program evaluation to students of public health, psychology, and occupational therapy.  She is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.
