Catherine Chamberlain, MScPHP, MPH, GradCert HSM, BSc (RN/RM)
PhD student
Catherine Chamberlain is a health service researcher with an interest in applied reproductive public health and evidence based practice and policy. She currently holds an NHMRC PhD scholarship. Her PhD research focuses on the efficacy and acceptability of screening for gestational diabetes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, supervised by Professor Brian Oldenburg, Professor Sandra Eades and Professor Jeremy Oats. The research will be conducted in collaboration with Baker IDI and is supported by an NHMRC Capacity Building Grant.
Catherine holds qualifications in Public Health (MPH; MScPHP [VPHTS]), Health Service Management, Midwifery and Nursing. She has previously worked for the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, Victorian Department of Health, Australasian Cochrane Centre, Kimberley Health Service, the Royal Flying Doctors Service and the Royal Women's Hospital.
Other current research interests include collaboration on a Cochrane Review of Interventions to Promote Smoking Cessation in Pregnancy. Catherine is interested in applied mixed method research and evaluation, and collaborative research to identify solutions to real problems experienced by women and children.
