Dr Bronwyn Fredericks, DipT, BEduc, MEduc, MEducStudies, PhD, JP, NHMRC Trn Fellow
Senior Research Fellow
Dr Bronwyn Fredericks is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Health, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow with the International Public Health Unit at Monash University. Dr Fredericks is additionally a Visiting Fellow with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO). Bronwyn’s current research interests focus on the socio-psychological aspects of chronic disease, tobacco, Indigenous women’s issues and research that privileges Indigenous knowledges, methodologies and worldviews. She has published across several disciplines and within academic and community sources. Bronwyn has worked in the health care and human service arena at national, state and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisation and Sector levels. She has undertaken roles as an educator, manager, chief executive officer, project officer, activist and change agent and has been actively engaged with Indigenous controlled, community based non-government organisations for over 25 years. Dr Bronwyn Fredericks holds a PhD (Health Science), Master of Education Studies, Master of Education – Leadership & Management, Bachelor of Education and a Diploma of Teaching (Home Economics) (Secondary). She is also a Justice of the Peace (Qual.).
