Adrienne O'Neil, BA (Hons)
Senior Research Officer
Adrienne O'Neil is a Senior Research Officer with the International Public Health Unit at Monash University's School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Adrienne is currently in the second year of her PhD (National Heart Foundation Scholar) which investigates the relationship between cardiovascular disease and depression; specifically the impact of this comorbidity on the Australian labour force, the role of depression as a predictor of functional outcomes after a cardiac event and the effectiveness of depression treatment after a heart attack. Adrienne has an academic background in psychology and sociology and has been involved in a number of large scale, research trials exploring the effectiveness of contemporary approaches to chronic disease management, including the /Managing cO-mOrbid Depression: Coronary Aftercare Randomized Evaluation (MOOD-CARE) study/, a three year randomised controlled trial funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing (DHA) investigating the effectiveness of a telephone-delivered intervention for depressed heart attack patients. Adrienne is a current member of the Australasian Society for Behavioural Health and Medicine (ASBHM) and the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA).
