Human Rights and Bioethics Unit - DEPM

The Human Rights and Bioethics Unit is involved in teaching at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels and offers advisory and consulting services in the fields of health and human rights, bioethics and public health law. Consulting services are provided to agencies of the United Nations and international nongovernmental organisations, governments of other countries, and State and Federal governments in Australia.

Teaching

Staff in the unit teach at all levels of the undergraduate medical course and a large range of postgraduate courses offered through the department.

In particular, the unit is responsible for  -

Master of International Research Bioethics,
Master of International Health in collaboration with The Centre for International Heatlh, Burnet Institute

The Unit also teaches “Health, ethics and human rights” within the Graduate Diploma in International Health and the Masters of Public Health and “Law for health systems” in the range of Health Services Management Courses.
