Deferment

The University will allow deferment of study up to a maximum of twelve months, or longer in exceptional circumstances, for all new coursework applicants who have been offered a place in a course, except where the applicant intends to study elsewhere.

Applicants are required to apply for deferment prior to the commencement of their first semester. Students wishing to take a leave of absence after commencing their degree must apply for intermission.

Applications for deferment can be completed either online via the Web Enrolment System or by submitting a hard-copy deferment application form (pdf) to your School or Department.

International applicants must apply for deferment directly to International Recruitment Services.
