Equity and Diversity
The Faculty is committed to creating an environment where all students and staff are treated fairly and equally; where we are fully compliant and indeed lead the way with regard to implementation of the University's policies in relation to staff and student disabilities; where we support our staff by developing flexible employment opportunities and we ensure that we have gender equity with equal opportunity for women in all aspects of the Faculty's operations. There is a strong commitment to ensure that indigenous Australians have appropriate access to all our courses, and are able to develop successful careers within the Faculty.
We have a particular opportunity as a Faculty with students from so many nations and cultural backgrounds to cherish this cultural diversity and ensure that it is respected in the way we operate in all of our activities.
The Faculty has established an Equity and Diversity Committee, which reports to the directly to the Dean and Faculty Executive, and annually to Faculty Board. The Chair of the Faculty Committee, Associate Professor Margot Story, is a member of Faculty Executive, and represents the Faculty on the University's Inclusive Practices Workplace Equity Committee, which in turn reports to the University's Equal Opportunity Committee of Council.
