About Us
The ECR committee aims to promote scientific exchange and oversee the professional development of early career post docs and PhD students at the AMREP campus of Monash University for both the Central Clinical School (CCS)and the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM). We aim to represent the interests of ECRs by having a committee comprised of representatives from departments across both schools. We facilitate a number of initiatives, see detail below, but we encourage you to contact us with further suggestions and feedback.

Events
ECR Biannual symposiums
The ECR Biannual Symposiums are a new initiative in 2012 and aim to provide a CCS-wide forum for ECRs to present and discuss their work in both oral and poster presentations. These symposiums will occur twice a year and will be in a half-day format. It is hoped that the symposiums will foster collaborations, networking and a greater awareness of the expertise and research being conducted on the site. The ECR seminar program (see below) is now for professional development and external speakers.
The first Biannual Symposium is June 15. Download flyer
Sub-committee members: Hao Lu, Lachlan Gray, Stuart Lee
ECR Retreat
In 2012 the CCS ECR Retreat will be replaced with an AMREP-wide ECR retreat that will encompass all Monash schools on the AMREP site, as well as the Baker and Burnet Institutes. For details of past retreats, see newsletter link below for ECR Times 6 (2011 retreat) and ECR Times 3 (2010 retreat). Photos from both retreats can be found here.
Social events at AMREP
MIASMA (Monash; Immunology, ACBD, Surgery and Medicine at the Alfred) is the Central Clinical School's social committee. See the MIASMA web page for details of forthcoming and past social events.
ECR Professional Development seminars
The ECR professional development seminar program provides opportunities for ECRs to obtain advice on career development with guest speakers and workshops. Our seminar archive lists previous guest speakers and workshops.
Details of forthcoming seminars (and other CCS events) are given on the CCS Events Calendar.
If you would like to request a guest speaker or suggest a workshop topic, please contact us.
Seminar program sub-committee: Anna Hearps, Sara Prickett, Lavinia Tran, Stuart Lee.
Mentorship Program
As an extension of the ECR Professional Development Seminars, the ECR committee would like to present fellow early career researchers with the opportunity to obtain professional mentoring with selected leaders in relevant areas of research. An information session and introductory workshop will be held on 1 May, 2012 (please refer to the calendar and/or flyer for venue and times).
Mentorship program sub-committee members: Maithili Sashindranath, Carolina Weller, Lavinia Tran, Lachlan Gray
