Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Emergency Health (Paramedic)Admission and Selection ProcessApplication to the Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Emergency Health is through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Course code is 29081 (CSP) 29082 (Fee) 29083 (Int. Fee). PrerequisitesUnits 3 and 4 — a study score of at least 25 in English (any) and Units 3 and 4— mathematics (any) Selection ModeCurrent Year 12: ENTER and two-stage process with a middle band of approximately 20%. NONY12—the entire academic record including GPA will be considered. A study score of at least 25 in any two of mathematics (any), chemistry, biology, physics and health and human development = an aggregate 2 points higher. Health Requirements for Clinical PlacementMetropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS) and Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV) require the following pre-requisites for clinical placements and are, therefore, included in the entry requirements. Note: All costs associated with the requirements outlined below are to be met by the intending students. MAS/RAV approved medical examination and Fitness AssessmentA medical examination and fitness assessment must be completed as a specific pre-requisite for Clinical Placement. Other ChecksAll students are required to have a police record check, an immunisation check and a working with children check. Details will be available on enrolment. Course structureEight semesters, each of four units. Clinical nursing and paramedic experience will be taken throughout the course. This comprises a major component of the course and requires placement in a variety of health care settings, ambulance services and other health agencies. Travel to metropolitan and rural off-campus locations for clinical placement will be required. Applicants must pass a police check prior to undertaking clinical placements. Successful completion of medical and fitness assessments are a prerequisite for clinical placements with Victorian Ambulance Services. Infectious diseases and vaccination policies apply.
