Honours Projects

Welcome to the Honours Projects page.  Honours projects are accepted throughout the year and placed on the BMedSc website in the order they are submitted.  The purpose of this page is to allow potential supervisors to list research projects for BMedSc candidate consideration.

Call for Honours Research Projects form (including guidelines)
Supervisors, you will notice this "call for projects" paperwork is different from that of previous years.  The Course Management Committee (CMC) has changed the design to provide support for Supervisors capturing the qualities characteristic of successful honours projects.

Is Vitamin D a possible adjuvant in resource poor settings? (Dr Ian Woolley) posted18/08/2010 (49kb)  The genetics of gender identity Professor Vincent Harley posted 23/08/2010 (kb) From April 2007 to June 2009 the National Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Program was implemented, allowing females aged 12 to 26 years to receive the vaccine free of charge. However, for women who were over the age of 26 years, the cost of vaccinating is $450.00 meaning this is likely to be a barrier to uptake. In addition, vaccine uptake relies on GPs willingness to administer the vaccine. This research is focused on improving GPs administration of the HPV vaccine to women aged over 26 years. Possible role of chemokine antagonists for the treatment of malaria - Dr Ian Woolley posted18/08/2010 (49kb) From April 2007 to June 2009 the National Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Program was implemented, allowing females aged 12 to 26 years to receive the vaccine free of charge. The National HPV Register was established soon after to track the women who received the vaccine and the GPs who administered it. The success of the vaccination program depended on GPs willingness to administer the vaccine. This research will therefore examine the characteristics of providers who have administered and reported HPV vaccination to the National HPV register. This information will have important implications for future vaccination programs Associate Professor Danielle Mazza posted 1/06/2010 (40 kb)   How do Australian final-year medical students perceive their preparedness for practice in the area of male health and where are the gaps in the medical curriculum?
