Monash Medical Research Students' Society

Events Committee Contact

The Monash Medical Research Students’ Society (MRSS) is the representative body for medical research students, specifically those studying the Bachelor of Medical Science (BMed Sc), a postgraduate honours degree.  This is an optional component of the Monash University Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery (MBBS).  The students who have taken on this challenge are a motivated and high achieving cohort, selected by an Admissions Board based on past achievement and academic merit.

The BMed Sc course aims to foster these young talents of the medical fraternity, encouraging students to take an active role in the further development of Australia’s already world renowned medical research community.  Many past students have gone on to become leaders in their chosen fields, in both research and clinical practice.
The MRSS is an advocate body which promotes cohesive bonds between students and also acts to liaise with academic staff.  2008 is a landmark year for this innovative society, with exciting plans to expand upon membership numbers.  This will involve the introduction of alumni and prospective student memberships as well as further promotion of medical research among Monash students and the broader public.
