Bachelor of Medical Science - Frequently Asked Questions from Supervisors!

Funding - will my supervisor receive any funding for hosting me for my BMedSc year?
Yes they will, funds are distributed the following year the student has completed the course.  The dollar amount is determined each year by the Faculty and is sent direct to the School your Monash supervisors department is attached to.  If you have an external supervisor (non Monash staff member), please note that they are responsible for negotiating the funding split between the Monash and non Monash departments.  As such, it is recommended that supervisors contact the Monash department prior to submission of the application form so all are satisfied and in agreement to funding arrangements prior to committing themselves for the year.  The external supervisor will need to invoice the Monash Supervisor's department to receive the negotiated funds.

Resources
Any training, courses, conferences, equipment, printing, etc that the supervisor determines is essential for their BMedSc student is at the sole responsibility of the BMedSc student's supervisor.  Students are required to gain funding approval from their supervisor.

Marking 
The BMedSc committee require your assistance in the marking the BMedSc assessments of other students in the cohort.  Please check the assessment dates on the following url to place in your diary to plan ahead.  If circumstances occur that you are unable to mark a particular assessment, it is an expectation of the committee that you arrange a suitable examiner to do so on your behalf.

Supevisor Absence 
In the event that supervisors are absent from the University for an extended period of time either during the year or directly prior to assessment due dates, or are not able to provide the assistance during any part of the year, it is important that they organise an alternative source of assistance for the student and notify the BMedSc Course administrator of the length of the absence and the alternative arrangements.

Who can I contact if I have questions throughout my BMedSc year?
