Entry into Honours and selection of Honours project

B.Sc Honours

Students who have completed all the requirements for a pass degree and who obtain an average of 70% or above over 24 points of third-year subjects (BCH3021, BCH3031, BCH3042, BCH3052 or BCH3990) will be eligible for enrolment in the BCH 4000 (Honours) Course. Students who obtain an average of 65-69% in their main third year sequence may be eligible for consideration if they obtained an average of at least 65% in their remaining third year subjects.

Students who have 18 (or 12) points of third year BCH subjects may also be eligible for entry into BCH4000. Eligibility will depend on the other third year science subjects completed and their relevance to the proposed area of study.

Requests for special consideration in exceptional circumstances can also be made.

B.Biomed.Sci Honours

To be eligible to do B.Biomed.Sci Honours you must have completed all requirements for the award of the pass degree of B.Biomed.Sci. You need an average of 70% or higher over 24 points of third year subjects, at least 12 of which must be in BMS core subjects.

Student from other Institutions

Students with pass degrees from other institutions and grades in biochemistry or related disciples that are equivalent to the requirements stated above are also eligible for enrolment in the Honours course.
