Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry, applicants must have completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) (pass a minimum of 4 subjects at level 3 & 4) and have a study score of at least 25 in English (any), or an equivalent national or international qualification.

Applicants that have completed an approved degree or diploma of at least 3 years duration in nursing, allied health or biomedical sciences within the last 10 years may be eligible for advanced standing. If granted, applicants may be admitted to the second year of the course (Accelerated Entry) and may be eligible to graduate after completion of two years of full-time study.

Admission and Selection Process

Application is through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) www.vtac.edu.au. Course code is 29171 (CSP) or 29172 (Fee).

Applicants are also required to complete an additional information form to be considered for selection. This online application is available at www.adm.monash.edu.au/admissions/vtac/index.html.  This must be completed by the date published under the course entry in the VTAC guide. Applicants who do not complete these requirements will not be considered for selection.

Applicants will be asked to provide answers to the following questions. Each response should be no more than 250 words.

  1. Summarise your reasons for selecting this course of study. Your answer must demonstrate an understanding of the nature of the disciplines and provide clear examples of factors that have influenced your choice of study.

  2. What activities (paid employment or voluntary) have you undertaken, in addition to your studies, that provide evidence of your motivation to study this course?

  3. Graduates of this course need to be able to work as a member of a team as well as take professional responsibility for patients under their care.  Please provide examples of activities that you have undertaken that demonstrate teamwork and leadership.

Applicants may also list other information that they believe is directly relevant to the application. Supporting documents (such as references and certificates) must be forwarded to VTAC. Health Requirements for Clinical Placement

Metropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS) and Rural Ambulance Victoria (RAV) require the following pre-requisites for clinical placements and are, therefore, included in the entry requirements.

Note: All costs associated with the requirements outlined below are to be met by the intending students.

MAS/RAV approved medical examination

MAS and RAV have stipulated that a medical examination be completed as a specific pre-requisite for Clinical Placement.

Physical Fitness Assessment

MAS and RAV have stipulated that a physical fitness assessment be completed as a specific pre-requisite for Clinical Placement.

Victorian Police Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.

MAS/RAV requires students to have a Police Records Check undertaken prior to placement. Victorian hospitals require all students to hold a current Working with Children Check prior to the clinical placement.

A limited number of places may be available for overseas full-fee paying students (VTAC Code 29173).
