Bachelor of Behavioural Neuroscience

Behavioural neuroscience is an exciting biomedical science that addresses the biological basis of behaviour and cognition.

Behavioural neuroscientists seek answers to questions such as:

  • How do drugs affect human performance?
  • What causes Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and Alzheimer’s diseases?
  • How do we feel pain and emotion?
  • What are the biological mechanisms underlying drug addiction?
  • How does the brain allow us to learn, speak and have a personality?
  • Why do we behave erratically when we are stressed or tired?
  • How do environmental toxins affect brain development and behaviour?
  • What controls our desires to eat, sleep and fall in love?

The Bachelor of Behavioural Neuroscience (BNS) degree is offered in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences by the School of Psychology, Psychiatry and Psychological Medicine.
