Founding Director - Professor Nadia Rosenthal

Nadia Rosenthal

Professor Nadia Rosenthal’s research focuses on embryonic heart development, ageing mechanisms, and stem cell-driven regeneration of neuromuscular and cardiac tissue.

Her exceptional scientific credentials include 16 years working at the Harvard Medical School. She is currently director of the EMBL outstation in Monterotondo, Italy.

Professor Rosenthal’s leadership role at ARMI will include: reviewing, developing and implementing a University-wide regenerative medicine research strategy; supporting and coordinating a number of collaborative ventures, including international ventures; and developing relationships and networks both within and outside Monash.

Deputy Director - Professor Peter Currie

Peter Currie

Professor Peter Currie joined ARMI in December 2008.

He was laboratory head of the Developmental Biology Program at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Sydney, and previously held a senior program leadership position at the MRC Human Genetics Unit in Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.

In addition to his role as deputy director, Professor Currie continues an active research program focusing on zebra fish models of muscle disease.
