Male Reproductive Biology
Associate Professor Nigel Wreford
Our major work is in the area of stereology and the application of stereological techniques to the solution of biological problems, particularly in the reproductive system. In recent years our group has looked at testicular development in a number of species including mouse, rat, cattle and sheep. We are also interested in the factors controlling the progression of germ cells through spermatogenesis particularly FSH and Testosterone. The group has investigated or is in process of investigating spermatogenesis in a number of knockout animals, which are as yet poorly characterized.
