Full-text via Ovid Databases

The popular Ovid databases MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE and PSYCINFO have just got better with the incorporation of links from article records to the library's full-text ejournals. The Library has been working with the Ovid company to develop these links through their Links@Ovid software. This project will take a number of months to fully complete, which will involve fine-tuning specific journal coverage and testing. However links are already available for journal titles on the ProQuest, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Highwire platforms, making large numbers of full-text articles available while searching these databases.

  • The availability of full-text is indicated by the presence of a Full Text link on the right-hand side of journal article citations, eg. :

Featured book for November ...

Top knife : the art & craft of trauma surgery
Asher Hirshberg & Kenneth L. Mattox.
Castle Hill Barns, Shrewsbury, UK : tfm Pub., c2005.
Alfred Library : 617.91 H669T 2005

... trauma surgery is an art that combines decision-making with technical and leadership skills. The purpose of this book is to help you take a badly wounded patient to the OR, organise yourself and your team, do battle with some vicious injuries, and come out with a live patient and the best possible result. The standard surgical atlas may show you what to do with your hands but not how to think, plan and improvise. This book is different. Here you will find practical advice on how to use your head as well as your hands when you are operating on a crashing trauma patient.
