| Need Help with a Systematic Review? | ![]() |

Systematic reviews make up an important part of today's evidence-based literature in medicine, nursing and allied health disciplines. Typically they require extensive searches to be performed on all relevant indexing databases. Librarians at your campus library can provide expert advice on searching databases, including methods of combined database searching to speed up the process. Commonly used databases include Medline, CINAHL, Embase, PsycLit and the Cochrane Library; however other databases of interest could include SportsDiscus, AustHealth, Science Citation Index, DRUG, just to name a few! |

| Keeping up with New Editions : Print or Electronic? | ||||

With a growing emphasis on electronic versions of health science textbooks, the library often needs to decide whether to purchase print or electronic versions. At the moment there is still a strong user preference for print versions over electronic versions, so the library will keep purchasing print copies for the immediate future. However for high-use titles and large multi-volume references the library will move to supplement our print holdings with electronic versions when these are available. Recent examples of titles which the library has both print and electronic versions are : Braunwald's heart disease (2008) and the Oxford handbook of clinical medicine (2007). An easy way to check what edition the library has is to search the library's catalogue while sorting by publication date. Also links to the library's e-books can easily be found by using the EBook list. |
