Athens is Coming!

Over the next few months the Bayside Health Library Service is setting up remote authentification to electronic resources using the "Athens" Access Management System. Athens is used widely in the UK and Europe, and is now expanding into Australia. Library users will be provided with an Athens username which will allow access to many electronic resources which have only been accessible onsite. Examples of Athen-compliant resources include the New England Journal of Medicine, ScienceDirect, MDConsult and ProQuest to name just a few.

OvidSP Databases introduce Personal Accounts

In June OvidSP database accounts for Bayside Health had personal accounts switched on for all databases. These databases include Medline, CINAHL, PsycInfo, and EMBASE. A useful feature of these databases is the ability to save search strategies, and to set up auto email alerts for favourite journal titles and regular search topics. The ability to save search strategies means that searches can be developed over a period of time and re-run when required. All saved searches and auto email alerts will now be saved under personal accounts that are registered by individual users. The Personal Account link can be found at the top right of any OvidSP database screen. Users can easily set up a personal account by providing an email address and password.
